- A dull puppy that is not eating has not finished its vaccine course.

- Your vet wants results for both viruses from one sample.
About this test
Distemper and parvovirus are two serious virus diseases of dogs, and puppies are hit hardest. Early on, they can look alike, with fever, dullness, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhoea. Distemper often adds cough and runny eyes and nose. Parvovirus mostly attacks the gut and causes bloody diarrhoea.
The Combo is a laboratory ELISA that checks for both viruses on a single serum or plasma sample, so only one blood collection is needed. Serum or plasma is the clear liquid part of blood. The sample is tested on plates coated with proteins that match each virus, and an ELISA reader records the colour reaction. The report gives a separate result for each virus.
This entry is the ELISA form. The rapid kits and the PCR tests are listed as separate tests. Your vet reads the combo result with the puppy's signs, age and vaccine history.
How to prepare
Fasting is not needed unless your vet asks for it. One blood draw is enough, because the lab needs only about 3 mL of serum or plasma for both viruses. Sample collection is free anywhere in Bhopal, and reporting time is confirmed when you book.
Reading the result
Each virus has its own result, positive or negative. A registered veterinarian reads both together with the puppy's signs and vaccine history, because vaccination or earlier exposure can affect ELISA results, and then decides on treatment or further tests.

Before you book this test
Why this notice: so you know, before you book, how a test is done, what its limits are and who is responsible.
- Where it is tested. Some tests are done wholly or partly by an independent partner laboratory. The lab tells you before booking if this test is sent out, and the report names the laboratory that did it.
- What a result can and cannot tell you. No test is right every time. A normal result does not rule out every disease, and an abnormal result does not prove one. A registered veterinarian should read the report with the animal’s signs and history before any treatment is started, changed or stopped.
- The sample. A sample that is clotted, too small, wrongly labelled, leaking or too old may be rejected or reported with a note, and the lab may ask for a fresh one.
- Reporting time. Confirmed when you book. Times are estimates, not guarantees, and the lab confirms the time when you book.
- Emergencies. A booking or a pending report must not delay urgent care. If an animal has collapsed, struggles to breathe, has fits or bleeds heavily, call a veterinarian at once.
