Pashupatinath Vet Lab
For Veterinarians and Clinics
Last updated 18 October 2026
Veterinarians and clinics can send samples to Pashupatinath Vet Lab, Shahpura, Bhopal, by courier, bus parcel or hand delivery, and get reports on WhatsApp or email. Inside Bhopal, we also collect from your clinic free of charge.
Sending samples
- Hand delivery: C-200, C Sector, Shahpura, any day, 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
- Courier or bus parcel: call or WhatsApp us before dispatch with the parcel details and arrival time.
- Packing: tubes upright in a sealed, leak-proof bag with absorbent material, inside a sturdy box. Use ice packs for chilled samples, without letting blood tubes freeze. Keep formalin jars at room temperature and away from slides, as the fumes spoil cytology smears.
Labelling samples
Write on every tube, container or slide:
- the animal's name or tag number, species and owner's name
- the sample type, such as EDTA blood, serum, urine or swab site
- the date and time of collection
Add a note with your clinic name, WhatsApp number, tests requested and a short history with medicines and vaccines.
Samples by test family
- Haematology and blood parasites: EDTA whole blood (purple cap), mixed gently, plus an air-dried smear if possible.
- Clotting tests (PT, aPTT): sodium citrate tube (light blue cap), filled to the mark.
- Biochemistry, hormones, serology and ELISA: serum (plain tube, red or yellow cap), separated if possible, without haemolysis.
- Glucose: fluoride tube (grey cap).
- Urine and stool: fresh, in clean, leak-proof containers.
- Skin: scrapings and hair in a clean, sealed container.
- Culture and sensitivity: sterile container or swab, ideally taken before antibiotics.
- Histopathology and cytology: tissue in 10% neutral buffered formalin (about ten times the tissue volume); air-dried smears for cytology.
- RT-PCR and rapid kits: varies by test, such as EDTA blood, serum or stool.
- Mastitis: fresh milk from each quarter in separate clean, labelled containers.
Each test page, such as Complete Blood Count (CBC), lists its sample type and volume.
Reports and contact
Reports go by WhatsApp or email to the contact on your request; tell us if the owner needs a copy. Routine tests are normally reported the same day or within 24 hours; for special tests, the reporting time is confirmed when you book. You, as the attending veterinarian, interpret the results with the animal's signs and history.
