Vital Panel

Vital Panel

Blood count plus liver, kidney, protein and sugar.

9 tests in one package · Sample: 5 mL - serum + whole blood (EDTA) + fluoride blood

The Vital Panel checks the blood cells, the liver (AST, ALT, ALP and albumin), the kidneys (urea and creatinine), total protein and blood sugar. Albumin and total protein show the protein balance in the blood, and glucose shows blood sugar. It gives your vet a broad look at how a pet's main organs and blood are working.

Tests inside this package

  • CBC

A CBC counts the red cells, white cells and platelets in a blood sample and can help show anaemia (low red cells), infection or inflammation (the body's reaction to injury). It suits dogs, cats, cows and buffaloes.

HaematologySample: Whole blood (EDTA)Single test: ₹400

  • SGOT / AST

AST (also called SGOT) is an enzyme found in liver and muscle cells. Raised levels may point to liver cell damage or muscle injury.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • SGPT / ALT

SGPT / ALT is a blood test for an enzyme that leaks out of damaged liver cells. It helps vets look for liver injury in dogs and cats, and is read with other tests in cows and buffaloes.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • Urea

Blood urea is a waste product made when the body breaks down protein, and healthy kidneys remove it. High levels can point to kidney disease or dehydration.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • Creatinine

A serum creatinine test measures a waste product from muscle that the kidneys filter out. A high level may show that the kidneys are not clearing waste well in dogs, cats, cows and buffaloes.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • Alkaline Phosphatase

ALP is an enzyme found mainly in the liver, bile ducts and bone. High levels may point to liver or bile duct disease, or to normal bone growth in young animals.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • Albumin

Serum albumin is the main blood protein made by the liver. Low levels can point to liver disease, or to protein loss through the kidneys or gut.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • Total Protein

Total protein is the sum of albumin and globulin, the two main protein groups in blood. Abnormal levels can point to dehydration, liver or kidney problems, or infection.

    BiochemistrySample: Serum (plain)Single test: ₹180

  • Glucose

A Glucose Random (RBS) test measures the sugar in the blood at any time of day, with no fasting needed. It can help find diabetes, low sugar and energy problems in dogs, cats, cows and buffaloes.

    BiochemistrySample: Fluoride plasmaSingle test: ₹180

  • Shows whether protein or sugar levels are off
  • Counts blood cells to look for anaemia or infection

How often? It is usually repeated once a year in healthy adults, or more often in older or sick pets, as advised by your vet.

Questions about this package

What does the Vital Panel check that the Basic Health Panel does not?
The Vital Panel adds AST, albumin, total protein and glucose to the checks in the Basic Health Panel. These show more about the liver, the protein balance in the blood and the blood sugar level.
Why are albumin and total protein tested?
They show the protein balance in the blood, which can change with liver, kidney or gut problems or poor nutrition. Albumin is a protein made by the liver, and total protein is the overall protein level. Your vet reads them with the other results and your pet's signs.
Does the Vital Panel include a blood parasite smear?
No. The Vital Panel does not include a blood parasite smear. If ticks or fever are a concern, ask about the Comprehensive Vital Panel, the Lite Health Panel or the Tick Bone Panel, which include one.

Packages support your veterinarian’s decisions; they do not replace an examination. A registered veterinarian should read the results together with your animal’s signs and history.
