Dermatitis Safety Panel
For itchy, inflamed or infected skin.
4 tests in one package · Sample: 3 mL - serum + skin scrapings & pus swab
The Dermatitis Safety Panel looks for causes of itchy, red or infected skin. It combines a CBC, a microscope check of skin scrapings for fungus, a fungal culture that grows and identifies any fungus, and an IgE test, which may be raised in allergic skin disease. Together they help your vet separate fungal infection from other causes and see how the body is reacting.

A CBC counts the red cells, white cells and platelets in a blood sample and can help show anaemia (low red cells), infection or inflammation (the body's reaction to injury). It suits dogs, cats, cows and buffaloes.

IgE Blood Tests in Itchy Pets: What They Can and Cannot Show
An IgE blood test can help show whether a dog's or cat's body is making allergy-type antibodies, but it cannot explain every itch. Mite and fungus tests are usually done first, and a vet reads the results together.

Skin Culture and Sensitivity: When a Skin Infection Needs a Culture
A skin culture grows the germs from a scraping or swab so your vet can see which bacteria are present and which medicines hold them back. It is used mainly when a skin infection keeps returning.

Itchy Pets: Skin Scrapings, Ringworm and Ear Tests
An itchy pet may have mites, a fungus such as ringworm, a germ or yeast infection, or an allergy, and each needs a different test. Skin scrapings, fungus tests and ear swabs help your vet find the cause.
